We recently announced our BudoKids summer special for 2015.  Enroll Now!  As your kids finish school and you are considering how best to fill their time,  remember exercise and movement is key.  Starting these habits now, when your child’s mind and routines are more open and fluid, is critical for creating those healthy lifestyles later.  At Budokon MD, we want to help your child grow stronger and more fit, but also have fun!  It’s summer after all.

BudoKids has a unique combination of martial arts and yoga. When we are young, we naturally have more flexibility.  Who hasn’t looked over at your child sitting in some strange position and remembered fondly when our hips and legs could move like that?  (You can always work on your personal flexibility at Budokon MD adult classes)  We want to work and reinforce that flexibility in our children.

The martial arts aspect of Budokon will help your child become more aware of their movements and body while the yoga aspect will stretch and loosen those muscles and joints.  Physical exercise will help keep your child’s metabolism going strong which will help burn away those summer treats!  Studies have shown that there is a strong positive correlation between a child’s physical activity and improved learning ability (Sibley and Eitner 2003).  So while they are off school, they can still work on improving their minds by moving their bodies.  Having a full day of both family time and physical activity will also help them sleep better at night, the time your child’s body rests and integrate everything they have learned that day.  So enroll in BudoKids now and start building those healthy habits.  And if you have already signed up for other summer activities, make sure some of them involve movement and play.  Moving kids are healthy kids.  And don’t forget, you can always come for a drop-in class for your child if you can’t commit long term!  See you on the mat!
